Shopfronts on Cockburn Street have been transformed and a cafe facade has been built in Waverley station before crews start shooting tomorrow.
Fans lined Cockburn Street hoping to get a glimpse of the film set as crews prepare for shooting for Avengers: Infinity War starts tomorrow.
One local shop, Miss Katie Cupcake, has been given an overhaul, being transformed into a kebab shop.
The boarded-off area shields the replica cafe, old phone booths and rubbish bins.
While stars are yet to be spotted, there is mounting speculation that Scarlett Johansson and Benedict Cumberbatch will be involved in filming taking place later this week.
Filming will get under way with drones shooting aerial footage of the Old Town.
Locals have been warned about the use of drone cameras and that “small explosions” will take place on April 2 and April 6.
Filming is for Avengers: Infinity War and its yet-to-be-titled sequel, with the former due to be hit the big screen in May 2018.
Both films are being shot back to back with filming continuing simultaneously across the pond in Atlanta, where stars reprised their superhero status as early as August last year.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted lighting trucks arrive in the capital early last week.
Earlier this month the Russo Brothers, who are directing the blockbuster, shared a snap of themselves location "scouting" at the City Chambers .
They later confirmed Marvel will use Wardpark Studios in Cumbernauld for filming, which is used for shooting Outlander.
