The billionaire’s loyalist and self-proclaimed ‘dirty trickster’ Roger Stone said UK spies did eavesdrop on Trump for Barack Obama before the November election
The billionaire’s loyalist and self-proclaimed ‘dirty trickster’ Roger Stone said UK spies did eavesdrop on Trump for Barack Obama before the November election.
His comments came after the Government, the FBI and America’s National Security Agency all said it was untrue.
Stone, who also believes he was wiretapped by US authorities, said: “My own sources high up in the Tory government, who are quite powerful, assured me that there was surveillance by the Brits.
“Of course they deny it, that’s their job to deny it.”
On Monday the director of the FBI James Comey confirmed Britain had not wiretapped Trump Tower last year.
The intelligence chief also admitted the US leader’s campaign team was being investigated over its ties with the Russian Government - four months before his election win.
The tweets continued: “Is it legal for a sitting President to be ‘wire tapping’ a race for president prior to an election?”
Trump then said it was a ‘new low’ for the former president, comparing it to ‘Nixon/Watergate’ and called Obama a ‘bad (or sick) guy’.
Last week the White House repeated comments made by US Judge Andrew Napolitano, who had appeared accused Britain of carrying out Obama’s dirty work, whole appearing of Fox News.
Stone, who has been ordered by the Senate Intelligence Committee not to destroy any documents related to Russia or which might be connected to an investigation of Russian attempts to interfere with the election, said that “despite the quick denials,” he thinks “Judge Napolitano is correct.”
The White House and Trump have refused to back down from the wiretap allegations or apologise to the UK.
