A leading political opponent of Vladimir Putin was sprayed green after he was attacked in the street with antiseptic liquid.
Kremlin critic and Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was splashed with dye on the campaign trail in Siberia.
The unknown assailant pounced on the streets of Barnaul before he fled from angered aides.
The green liquid is commonly used as an antiseptic in Russia and can stain skin for days although it is harmless.

He
later posted a tweet which appeared to show he had taken the attack in
his stride, writing: "I will be opening a headquarters in Barnaul as if
I'm from the film The Mask! Cool. Even my teeth are green!".

Pictures shared on social media showed Mr Navalny's green coloured face at campaign rallies.
The anti-corruption activist visited Barnaul to open his headquarters in his bid for Russia's 2018 presidential elections.

received a fraud conviction which his supporters claim was politically
motivated.
Mr Nvalny rose to prominence in 2011 and 2012 when he led a series of anti-government demonstrations in Moscow.
