A "sexist" Italian talk show has been axed for claiming Eastern European girlfriends "let men rule" and make "perfect housewives".
Italy's state broadcaster RAI said it was scrapping its show 'Let's discuss it on Saturday' (Parliamone Sabato) following a debate about why men should date Eastern Europeans instead of Italians.
A list, entitled "Reasons to choose an Eastern European girlfriend", gave six alleged benefits which included the women "let their man rule" and "don't whine or get clingy".
Regaining a slim figure after childbirth, forgiving adultery, learning housework from a young age and no tracksuits or pyjamas were also cited as perks of dating Eastern Europeans.

RAI's director general Antonio Dall'Orto said the show "undoubtedly contradicted" the broadcaster's values, while bosses of the channel that broadcast the programme offered "sincere apologies for what happened."
Several senior politicians expressed outrage at the programme over the "unacceptable" stereotypes.

Italian Chamber of Deputies speaker Laura Boldrini said: "It's unacceptable that in a television programme women are presented like domestic animals to be appreciated for their meekness, obedience and subservience."
Thousands of women from Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Romania and other eastern European countries have migrated to Italy over the last 20 years, often finding work as domestic helpers.
Anger towards RAI has swelled since Italy's former prime minister Matteo Renzi incorporated the licence fee in people's electricity bills, making it harder to avoid paying it.
