The scheme, which offers Clubcard members the chance to redeem freebies and rewards in return for reviews of its products, is to close on 31 March, the food chain has revealed. At present, Tesco runs the secret society for as many 20,000 subscribers. However, it says it's closing the scheme to promote a more "national in-store sampling programme" which could benefit all customers. What is the Orchard Loyalty Club? Staff and customers were allowed to take part in the incentive As part of the club, members were invited to trial out and review products, generally food, through their online Orchard account. They would then be incentivised through vouchers to spend in store. The scheme was open to customers and Tesco staff, as long as they were Clubcard members. Tesco then used the data to improve its products and in-store experience. Are you a member of Tesco's Orchard Club? In a statement, Tesco told Mirror Online it has already started its in-store sampling programme, and on average sample over 1,000 products per week across own label and branded products at 600 UK stores. A Tesco spokesperson told The Mirror: "We know the quality of our food is really important to customers, so we want to provide them with more opportunities to taste it and get their feedback in person. "That’s why we’ve taken the decision to close The Orchard at Tesco on the 31 March 2017 in favour of expanding and improving our national in-store sampling programme.
